I'm Going to Jail

So over my lifespan, I've pulled hundreds of good pranks and practical jokes. I have never had one go as wrong as the one I pulled on Saturday. A friend of mine turned 40 this weekend, and we had a surprise party for him, at his house. Of course everyone proceeds to get completely wasted, except for me (because I like to be able to drive home safely) and a friend of mine who is pregnant. While we are watching people get more and more drunk, I decide we should start to mess with Ted. Sitting in the living with a bunch of other people, I got up and took a huge ass picture of a deer off his wall and took it out the front door to my car. The plan was to hang it up in the ER, and see if he noticed it when he went back to work. So after I came back in, and a few hours later, he notices it is missing but is completely unsure how long it has been gone. All the drunk folk are now trying to remember if they saw a picture hanging on this big empty wall now. Funny for me. He than starts to talk about how he thinks his very recent ex-wife busted into the house and took his picture. Seriously. For one thing, it was an ugly picture, and secondly, why would she break in and steal only that? I guess maybe alcohol does funny things to a person. So a couple of days go by when I go into work and find Ted there. He starts talking about how his ex-wife may be going to jail. I asked him for what, because she is actually a pretty nice, honest lady. He told me for stealing his picture. I tried to explain to him numerous times how he shouldn't be calling the cops because I know where the picture is at. He, of course, doesn't listen. He proceeds to call the state police, get in touch with a detective, and his attorney. Seriously? If you had a big group of drunks at your house and something came up missing, wouldn't the first thing you do would be to question everyone who was there. Oh no, not in this case. Needless to say, I had to actually physically present him with the picture before he would call the cops and explain to them that it was just a big misunderstanding. Opps. You know what though, I don't even really feel that bad about it, and still think its damn funny!

Anyways, this morning was one of the coldest mornings I can remember. And who has to get up before the sun comes up? Yup, me. At a -21F, I tromped out to the ski hill to patrol for the Special Olympics. I seriously thought I was going to freeze. Sadly, there wasn't a big turnout, but I guess that worked out for the better since it didn't last as long. It did warm up to a balmy 18F! The sun was shining, I felt like I was in heaven. I think I may even have gotten a bit of a sunburn! The best part of the day was the hour we had between the Special Olympics and the high school ski practice, so the patrollers actually had the hills to themselves. It was pretty sweat!

Last day off tomorrow before heading back to work. Sigh....

We're Having a Heat Wave!

Yup, that's right, a heat wave. Temps the past couple of days have been in the 20s! Of course that is all going to change when the arctic air pushes its way back into Northern Michigan. Work was so miserable this past stretch, I didn't wake up until 1130 yesterday. So the past couple of days I've just been vegging. Did a quick cross country ski trip, did some snowshoeing today. Just felt like I had to get outside while it felt so warm out!

The rest of my days, sadly, are already planned. I prefer to live with no plans, and let how I feel in the morning predict what I'm going to do that day. Mostly I'll be out doing ski patrol. Next week they are hosting the Special Olympics. That should be a riot! Plus a surprise 40th birthday party for a friend of mine. I've come up empty handed for a gag gift, so I've decided to a: go with no gift at all; b: just bring a card; or c: continue to think of something..... Anyone have any ideas?

Off to bed!

Burr!!!

So tomorrow, or today now, is supposed to be the "really cold day." Currently the temp is -17 with a windchill of -25. I was out snow blowing in those temps tonight. It felt like I didn't have a jacket on I was so cold. I couldn't seem to get done quick enough!! So the weathermen are calling for windchill readings in the range of -25 to -30 throughout the day. Since I'm headed back to work, I'm hoping that this keeps everyone indoors and uninjured! Only the really sick people can come in! But more than likely what will happen, as it always does, the really dumb ones will come in also. Job security I suppose!

The highlight of my night........my neighbors porch light FINALLY burnt out. When they come up, one of the first things they always do is turn on all of the lights inside and outside of the house. Not too sure why that is. But many times they have left a light on outside of the house. When they left well over a week ago, this was no exception. The light they left on perfectly shined right into my house, and it was some super 10,000 watt bulb nonetheless. Finally though, it burnt out and things around the house are dark again, just the way I like it.

Baby It's Cold Outside

Its more than just cold, it is freezing up here. Currently the temp is -14, not too sure what the windchill is. Today the highest I saw was 4, but the windchill reading was anywhere from -10 to -17. What did I do? Go outside and play in it of course! I went snowshoeing in the Pigeon River for a few hours this afternoon. It was rather quite deceiving since the sun was shining all day, even had to put my sunglasses on! After I finally got back to the car, and for several hours after that, I felt like someone was poking my face with a sharp little needle. It was fun, just cold.

The wonderful news about the weather, is that it is supposed to get colder with Thursday being the worse. The weatherman said tonight, "Things do warm a bit Friday as it looks like all areas should reach above zero." Woohoo!! Above zero! That is a reason for celebration! I don't understand why no one wants to come visit me up in the great north.......

What I've Been Up To!

First off, I've been making too many major purchases lately. I need to cut back, if for no other reason than the fact that I haven't worn out my other toys before I buy something new. Anyways, latest purchase: a kick ass air hockey table! It is some 5 feet long, the kind you would find at the bar or an arcade. I bought it at the junk store. I'm not sure what the name of the store really is, but my friend found it at the place he always calls the junk store. Everything there is new, it is just full of junk. The guy was asking $500, but I jewed him down to $200. A steal!! Oh the fun we've been having with this thing. I've had all sorts of people over, which is unusual for me, since I'm normally not the entertaining type of person. But between the wii, the foosball table and now the airhockey table, my house is like an arcade. Kids love it here!!

Spent Saturday out doing ski patrol. Or at least thats what I told people I was doing while I was there. I had some friends stop by, and we ended up tubing for over two hours. Its a lot less work when you don't have to walk your ass back up the hill! It was a riot!!

And something totally crazy. I had a dream last night that my old garage cat, Ruff, showed up. I seriously woke up sweating. For some reason either he was shaved or all of his hair was coming off. I don't know, it was just weird. Anyways, while I was sitting on the couch tonight my two indoor cats started freaking out at the back door. I get up to check to see whats going on, and guess who is on the porch....Ruff! I hadn't seen that cat since July, and since she is so little, I just assumed that the coyotes or something had her for dinner. I can't believe she is still alive!! I'm not about to open up the garage and start feeding her again. I seriously don't want that stray hanging around the house again. Obviously someone has been taking care of her. Just shocked the hell out of me that she showed up tonight, especially after that crazy dream I had last night.

Finally, some exciting weather news! The weather is always a topic of conversation in Northern Michigan, since it is forever changing. Anyways, we are supposed to get up to 10 inches of snow tonight. Wind gusts of 30 to 40mph. And the exciting part is windchill readings of 20 to 30 below zero!! So a few things pop into my mind. I want to go out and play in the cold tomorrow to see how well I can tolerate and endure these subzero temperatures and to test my survival skills. Secondly, think about it this way. Even if it warmed up 60 degrees, it would still be below freezing. Doesn't that sound oh so pleasant and make everyone want to come visit me!!!!!

Why I Love Kids!

I was out tonight doing ski patrol, when this little guy who was maybe 7 or 8 skis up to me and says, "are you a kid?" I laughed, and asked him what he thought, and he said, "you look like a kid to me." I asked him how old he thought I was, and he said 12. Granted, I do look rather young for my age, but don't kids just crack you up?

Road Trip!

If you ask me, there is nothing better than a last minute road trip! I've been wanting to get up to Tahquamenon Falls for awhile now to see what everything looks like all frozen. So when I woke up today, I decided today would be the day. Of course that meant I got a late start, and for some reason, Tahquamenon Falls seemed a whole lot longer away from my house today than it has in the past. And if there is one thing I hate most about winter, it has to be the fact that it gets so dark so darn early. Needless to say, I didn't have a lot of time to goof off like I wanted to. So my first stop was the Lower Falls. I am pretty sure that the campground is open all year around there, so I thought I would be able to get back there. But when I pulled in, there were two cars parked near the entrance, but for the life of me I couldn't remember how far away the falls are from there. So I opted to skip out on those this time around, since they aren't as spectacular as the Upper Falls, and just head to the Upper Falls. I was surprised how accessible the Upper Falls were. Sure only half the parking lot was plowed, which was no big deal since I was the only car there anyways, but the path to the falls was pretty well packed down. I even opted to carefully navigate down the slippery steps so I could get as close as possible. The falls were awesome! I would say half of the falls were frozen, but the water still came raging over the ledge. The orange color of the water seemed intensified surrounded by all the white snow. It was awesome!! At the end of the day, I had just enough daylight to head up to Whitefish Point to see what, if anything, was going on up there. The whole UP seemed to be totally abandoned. There were no people, no cars, all the driveways were buried in snow, businesses and hotels were shut down for the season, it was all just so eerily quiet. And as expected, Whitefish Point was all desolate. Oddly enough though, when I finally made it out to the beach, there was mostly sand. It was so tempting to kick my boots off and go running through the sand. But reality quickly came back when a cold brisk breeze knocked me in the face and made my eyes water. It was freezing up there! I didn't stick around too long, just long enough to snap a couple of pictures. No standing around enjoying the breeze and throwing rocks in the water like I normally do when I visit Lake Superior! Other than hitting a bird with the jeep on the way up (seriously, a bird, caught me by surprise!), today was a day well spent!

My Apologies to the Neighborhood

I got home tonight, and it appeared to me that my neighbors who have been up at their cabin for the past 2 weeks had finally gone home. My schedule lately has been difficult, so I simply haven't had time to snow blow the 6 inches or so of snow in the driveway. So, I figured I would do it when I got home tonight, at 1am. Well, lets just say that I found out the neighbors are still here. All the lights came on, and people were peaking out the window. Opps. I had two options, to finish as quickly as possible or quit and get up early tomorrow. I decided to try and hurry up and get it done, which I did, in about 30 minutes. When I shut the snowblower off, all I could hear were dogs barking. Apparently I woke the neighborhood dogs up also. Which I actually didn't even know I had any neighborhood dogs. I guess on the plus side of things, I'm assuming that all these people and animals I woke up are all from downstate. Which in most situations, they probably deserve it. I know I've had my share of being woken up from excess noise. So I guess I'm not really sorry.......

Happy New Year!

Can you believe it is 2009? I remember as a kid, dreaming about how far away the year 2000 was, let alone 2009! Yikers! Soon I'll be turning 29....super yikers!

So I rang in the New Year with friends and a herd of kids. Kids are hilarious. They are so simple minded, I aspire to be more like a kid the older I get. So one kid says to me, do you know the difference between toilet paper and milk? Of course I say no, and his reply, good thing you don't do the grocery shopping! That is funny, I don't care who you are.

I've spent the past two days out doing ski patrol. It has been a lot of fun and pretty eventful. Just a lot of minor injuries, but since I'm the most qualified medical patroller, I get to call all the shots. I only wish they had an x-ray machine there (yeah right), than I wouldn't have to send so many people to my friends in the ER. Yesterday I spent most of the day standing at the bottom of a jump everyone kept crashing on. There were two little kids, 4 and 5, who would crash almost every other time. Than they would just lay there waiting for me to come pick them up. They were funny. I can't believe how young they start them, its amazing! I suppose it is a good age, since they have no fear. And don't let them fool you, those little ones are pretty damn good. Most of the severe injuries happen out on the tubing hill. Which I had to play on this morning before it got busy, only because you don't have to walk up the hill, they have a rope you hang on to. Its a riot! I wish I had more free time to spend out there.

Today was the Winter Classic Hockey Game at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Of course Detroit won, 6-4. I taped the game, and just finished watching it. It looked like a lot of fun for both the players and the fans. I need to make it down to Detroit for a Wings game soon!

Back to the real world tomorrow when I return to work. I'm sure it will be super busy thanks to an extended holiday weekend.

A Mid Winter Thaw?!?

Christmas is over. A good Christmas it was. I think this is the first year I've had both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off. A little disorienting. I also have New Years Eve and New Years Day off this year. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself just yet.....

I spent Christmas Day with the family. Of course I was out of bed late since it was one of my few days off this week. Got some pretty cool gifts. An awesome pair of swim goggles that I can't wait to use when the lake thaws. Since I'll do anything to make people laugh, I wore them the entire day. While we opened presents, while we ate dinner, while I napped, while I played the wii (which I think helped my awesomeness at boxing), and by the end of the day I had the biggest rings around my eyes. Unfortunately I had to take them off to drive home since it was dark and the goggles are tinted....it just didn't seem too safe. I also got a new game for the wii. It is some medical game, I haven't opened it just yet. Can't wait to get a bunch of my doctor and nurse friends to come over and see how much we really suck. I also got several books and a bunch of odds and ends.

Last night the temps in Gaylord rose up into the 40s. Today I think it got as high as 48. A lot of wind, fog and rain. A lot of our snow has melted and it almost feels like spring outside. I was going to go out and do ski patrol today, but they opted to close the hill instead due to the rain. Bummer. If it were March, I would be extremely thrilled about this weather. Instead, it is still December and I know that tomorrow morning we will be under another winter storm watch with blizzard like conditions. This weather is just crazy!! However, it has helped my driveway problem somewhat. I was able to go out to the end of the driveway in the pouring rain and widen my driveway a bit until my arms couldn't lift the heavy snow any longer. That stuff was so heavy it was like shoveling cement. Not fun! I guess I'm ready for the snow to come back so I can go out and do some more skiing and snowshoeing.......

Merry Christmas!

It has been awhile since I've posted anything, so I figured I better do something about that. First I better wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Since it is officially Christmas now....

Haven't been up to too much, just a lot of work and not very much play. The weather in Gaylord has been.....frigid. With a ton of snow. It seems that it has pretty much been snowing everyday for the past month. My driveway is rather messy. The end of it has gotten rather narrow and the "Early hump" has turned into quite the curb. I'm not too sure my mailbox is still connected to the post, and think that the snowplow may have knocked it off when it came flying by. The neighbors is missing, so it is possible. Either way, if it did get knocked off, it is cemented into the snowbank and I won't know for sure until the snow melts. Whenever that may be. I feel that it should be the middle of February and that the snow should start to melt, the days should be getting longer, and that things should start to warm up. But they are not. Instead, it is only something like the 4th day of winter.

I started doing ski patrol last week. It is kinda fun. I didn't get the opportunity to head out to go skiing when I went, but hope to next time. Besides, the temperatures were so frigid the day I went, most of the other people just sat in the hut and monitored the hills from there. There was one tubing accident, but no injuries. Plus I've met a lot of really cool people who love the outdoors as much as I do. I've already gotten all sorts of invitations for hiking and biking trips for next summer. So I'm pretty pumped about that. Afterward some of us headed over to one guys house who just so happens to own a hot tub, and has been the designated hangout post ski patrol. For whatever reason, while we were sitting in the hot tub all nice and toasty shooting the shit, and of course drinking, we decided to jump out real quick and do some snow angels. That is highly NOT recommended. Although I am slightly inspired to do the polar bear dip this year. I did end up with a huge bruise on my knee from running back into the hot tub and sliding all over. But I am definitely looking forward to doing ski patrol again.

Other than a bunch of work related stories I cannot share, but oh so wish I could, that about sums up my past week. I better head to bed so that Santa stops by the house for a visit....

A Hodge Podge of Events

First off, not only is it raining in the middle of December in Gaylord, it is also thundering. What is up with that? It better not melt all of the snow we have. I do hope it takes care of the huge hump I have at the end of the driveway though......referred to every year as "The Early Hump." Towards the end of the year it is like driving over a curb. Pretty ridiculous.

So I have to brag that I am the Foosball Champion!! There has been trash talk for the past week about this foosball competition we had the other night. I was unstoppable, everyone I played I put to shame. They even ganged up on me, 2-1, and I still rocked! I do have a huge blister on my thumb from the night. We played for 3 straight hours. I was exhausted by the end of the night!

Finally got the house decorated for Christmas. Normally I cut my own tree down, but the tree farm I go to had all their trees brought in this year. I opted to support the Boy Scouts and bought my tree from them. The kids were hilarious, curious about everything. Very helpful little guys, I think they would have come home and helped me set the tree up in the house if I would have asked. I also finally got the outdoor lights up on the porch. I love sitting in the living room at night in the dark with all the Christmas lights on, it makes it just bright enough that you can walk around without running into things. Always a good thing.

So depending on when this rain stops, I may or may not go out snowshoeing tomorrow. I'll be awful disappointed if I don't, but such is life......

I've been spending way too much time surfing the internet lately. In particular spending time on White Blaze, reading all the trail journals of the people who have attempted thru-hikes of the Appalachian Trail. Lets just say, I've got that itch again. Wish I could win the lottery so that I could afford to take 6 months out of my life to just hike everyday. Guess maybe I should start by playing the lotto......

Enjoying the Snow!

I finally have a few days off. I've worked the past 7 days, including an all nighter last night. I was made extremely jealous by a friend of mine who would tell me almost daily that she went out skiing and how awesome the conditions have been. I finally made it out today. Of course I didn't roll out of bed until almost 3pm, but immediately got up and headed out to the Pine Baron. The trails are excellent! Of course I'm extremely worn out, so I went home had dinner and took a nap. There is a huge full moon tonight, and tomorrow it is supposed to be the largest full moon of the year since it is so close to the earth. I snow blowed the end of the driveway around 1030pm, and decided that I couldn't let the opportunity pass so I would go out skiing, again. I headed out to Aspen Park, which is normally lit up at night, but wasn't expecting the lights to be on at 1130. Luckily they were, since when I went to put my headlamp on, I found out the batteries were dead. It was a perfect night to be out there. Temps in the teens, with a nice light snowfall. Gosh I love the winter!!

I can't wait to get up and do some more skiing tomorrow. I've also decided to start doing ski patrol out at Hanson Hills. It is voluntary, but you get compensated with free skiing and tubing, so I decided I couldn't pass that up. I have some sort of meeting there tomorrow, followed by a big foosball competition at a friends house!! I need to get my rest, off to bed I go...

And God said, "Let it Snow"

And than it snowed, and snowed and snowed some more. Gaylord is under a winter storm warning until Friday morning. It is projected that we could get 1 to 2 feet of snow. If you ask me, that is quite a range, but either way the snow is coming. And has been coming for a week now. So exciting! Yesterday I headed over toward Oscoda, mainly to take pictures of the big dumping, but also just to get outside. The closer I got to Lake Huron, the less snow they had. I took a 6 mile hike along the Ausable River. Didn't even need my skis or snowshoes. It was cold, and a bit blustery, but so worth it. Luckily they didn't have so much snow that my four wheel drive wasn't able to take me way back in the woods. It appears that these trails aren't used for skiing during the winter. Or maybe they used to be, but it is not in the budget, yet again this year. Who knows. Anyways, attached are some pictures.

Tomorrow, it is back to work....

I Survived!

I survived my long 7 day stretch at work. Off for a few now.....oh Thank God! That stomach bug is going around terribly right now. So many patients coming in with the nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. I felt kinda pukey on Tuesday, but nothing transpired. I haven't thrown up in over 5 years, and counting, and am not about to start now! I had to listen to my sister puke all day today while trying to enjoy Turkey Day at The Parents house. I'll just steer clear of her for awhile.

Not much on the agenda. Gaylord has gotten a fair amount of snow, and a friend of mine went out skiing yesterday. Slightly jealous. The snow seems pretty sticky yet, so we'll see. I got to run the snow blower for the first time on Tuesday. Of course that was the day I wasn't feeling so hot, so I was quite frustrated when it wouldn't start. I tinkered with it for awhile and finally got it going.

Took the Nintendo Wii over to The Parents house for a little before dinner entertainment. Now I know I look stupid when I play it, but I swear my parents looked a lot stupider than I do. I laughed so hard. Good times!

All for now. Off to bed.......

Glad it is Thursday!

As if my morning didn't start out bad enough waking up to a nice cold house, the day had to go out with a bang also. Dad came over and it was a rather easy fix with the furnace. We cleaned the pilot sensor, and everything seems to be working fine now. What I didn't see happen was when I was still upstairs, he unplugged the washer tub to plug in his spotlight. So as I was attempting to get everything ready to go back to work tomorrow, including doing my laundry, I heard what sounded like water hitting the basement floor. I was puzzled for a minute when I went downstairs to check it out. What I found was something you would see on tv. Water overflowing out of the wash tub, spewing all over the floor, bubbles going everywhere. Luckily I was able to react pretty quickly and shut the washer off. And luckily I don't have a ton of crap in the basement that could get ruined. But there was a ton of water that I spent about 2 hours sucking up with the shop vac. Honestly though, I couldn't help but start laughing at the scene. All is cleaned up now, the floor is drying, and I'm headed to bed in the hopes that I don't have another day like this for a really long time......

Humm...it's kinda cold in here.......

Today is probably the coldest day we've had so far. It is 21 degrees with a 10 degree windchill. So what do you appreciate most on cold winter days? Heat. Guess who has none! I woke up this morning, feeling a little chilly, but thought maybe the furnace hadn't "woke up" and inc the temp to a cool 63 degrees. I let the furnace turn down to 58 at night to save on heating costs. Anyways, I heard something kinda loud coming from possibly the basement or maybe outside this morning. Couldn't tell. But looking at the thermostat, it is 56 degrees in here right now. The furnace will come on and blow cool air out for maybe 30 seconds and shut back off. The noise? Yup, the furnace. So I'm oh so patiently waiting for my favorite furnace man, my Dad, to call me back. In the mean time I'm hiding between the covers with the electric blanket turned on.

Lazy Days!

So today my biggest accomplishment today was getting out of bed and making dinner. I also finally brought the road bike in from the garage. Don't think I'll be riding that outside anymore. It is now sitting in the dining room on a spinner. Kinda fun I guess. Considering you are just sitting there pedaling for however long you're able to entertain yourself. My ass hurts just like it would if I were out riding it for a hour, so I guess it is semi-effective. My main goal with that is to keep my legs in shape, if not improve them for next summer. Which seems oh so far away...... The mountain bike is still in the back of the jeep.....just in case? I don't know. I guess I should probably come to terms and bring it inside also. The highest I saw the temp get today was 23. That's freaking exciting. Supposed to get down into the teens tonight. Burr.....

I'm Thinking Winter is Here to Stay

We've had a fortunate fall, with a nice warm stretch at the end. I'm pretty sure I did the last of my mt biking for the summer on Saturday. Since than, it has started to rain and now snow. The ground is covered, with a forecast of up to a foot of snow by 11am tomorrow morning. We'll see.... Someone was telling me that the Farmer's Almanac has forecasted for this winter, "the worst of memory." Whose memory? Mine? I've been through some pretty bad winters up here. Or is it the memory of the guy who just moved here from California? What does that mean? So, ready or not, here it comes.....EXCITING!!!

Spent the weekend catching up with a friend of mine from Pennsylvania. A bunch of us got together, mostly from work and EMS, and gosh did it kind of get out of control. One of the highlights was teaching my friend's 11 and 13 year old how to play beer pong. Can't wait for them to go back to school and tell all of their friends what that did over the weekend! We did substitute the beer for green kool-aid...yummy!

Other than that, some much needed R and R. Got my Nintendo Wii set up. Gosh is that thing freaking fun. The only bad part is, I'm still recovering from an arm injury from when I crashed my bike two days ago. One of the docs at work said I pulled something and that it will just take time and rest for it to heal. And I'm such a patient person, that that is no big deal! But right now, it hurts to stretch it and do any heavy lifting, pushing or pulling. At work on Friday I did chest compressions for probably 10 minutes, and I felt like that arm was going to fall off. It hurt!

Back to Work

Well, after having 10 days off, it was back to work Monday. My last few days of vacation were pretty lame. The weather turned really shitty here, it got cold and started to rain....than snow. Sunday night/Monday morning, I would say Gaylord got about 8 inches of snow, although I think the totals really varied throughout the county. Pretty exciting. For the most part though, it has melted and I'm sure the rest of it will be gone today as it is now raining outside. Yucky! I can't wait for enough to play in. This is the painful period. So with the snow, I've seen several people out jumping the gun and snowmobiling. Of course one of the docs at work is still out mountain biking....in the snow. He is awesome though, seriously cracks me up. He said he only crashed maybe 6 times, that he could remember. Hit a tree once. Silly man! My legs are covered in bruises from my last crash. And my right arm is pretty sore, kinda concerned about that. Work has been busy lately, but if it slows down while I'm there I'm going to see if someone can snap a picture of it, just to make sure it isn't broken.....that would suck!

So today I got the hairs cut. So painful. I hate going to the beauty shop....I can't stand sitting there listening to all these woman gossip about people. One old lady...maybe in her 60s, kept talking about her myspace page. I thought that was more for teenagers. I so wanted to say something smart ass, but I'm not feeling up to par today so I just sat there quietly waiting for the lady to hurry up and finish her job. How reserved of me!

Now, I am sitting on the couch, patiently waiting for UPS to deliver my Nintendo Wii. I'm so excited. Last weekend, in my super bored state, I decided I needed a hobby to help pass the time over the winter, so I bought a Wii. Is that considered a hobby? I'm pretty excited. I feel like it is Christmas morning or something.

While I've got time, I want to share a hilarious work story. Which I can share, because there really is no privacy violations, as you will see at the end of the story. So EMS got called out to a residence for a possible DOA (dead on arrival). Apparently the electric company was out at a house last week and noticed there was someone sitting at this dining room table. Well they had to go back out there to finish the job, and noticed that that person was now slumped over the table. There was a cereal bowl on the table, a newspaper spread out, etc. So the workers felt awful that this person was probably dead, etc. Not to mention it was warm last week, so I'm sure the smell would be over powering. For everyone who has not had the pleasure of smelling a really ripe, rotting body, it is the worst. Makes my stomach turn talking about it. Anyways, of course no one answers the door when they knock, so the deputies had to kick the door in. When they made it to the dining room table, it ended up only being a manequin. Apparently the people were leaving for the winter, and in an attempt to make it look like someone was still living there so that no one would break into the house (like what just happened), they tried to make a "scene" of someone eating breakfast. Seriously, that cracks me up! Who does that? The medics were not the least bit amused, so when I started laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my face, I don't think they appreciated it. Good times!
